Franchising: The Australian model

Le 1 february 2010

Franchising: The Australian modelThe European expansion programme of the Australian franchiser, Howards Storage World, is in full swing. Following its confirmation of the opening of 205 new stores in 10 European countries, the flourishing Australian storage specialist has reiterated its intention to open more than 500 stores throughout Europe in the next 10 years, in the context of its global expansion programme. On 16 November, Howards Storage World confirmed its Master Franchise for Scandinavia (including Norway, Sweden and Denmark). Not only this, the Masters in place in Ireland, Spain, and the UK are all expecting to open new stores in 2010. In Benelux, the first store officially opened in Brussels in October 2009 and the first results have demonstrated the popularity of this commercial concept amongst European consumers. The opening of a second store in Liège in March 2010 has been confirmed.
Managing Director of Howards Storage World, Dirk Spence, intends “to organise the world, country by country” and has announced a new Master Franchise partner in India, with the planned opening of 30 stores in the next five years. In Asia, the first store is set to open officially in the Philippines on 5 March 2010, with the franchised master partners the Robinson Group.
Is the Howards Storage World commercial model, which got off to a flying start in Australia in 1997 (60 stores), about to conquer the planet? “It was over 10 years ago that we established that storage is a very common problem in the home, and we now see that it is a worldwide problem. Our unique Australian commercial concept has been crowned with success not only in Europe, but also in other regions of the world,” declared Dirk Spence.
